Graeme was born in Durban, South Africa and grew up on a farm on the north coast of Natal. He received a B.A. (Law) from the University of Stellenbosch in 1983, and an LL.B from the University of Natal in 1985. After two years of national service as a military lawyer in the South African Army, Graeme immigrated to Canada in 1989, settling in London. In 1992 Graeme received an LL.B from the University of Western Ontario Law School. He served articles with Aston, Berg, Kennedy & Morrissey (subsequently Berg Kennedy Cleaver Broad LLP), where he has practised since being called to the Bar in 1994.

Graeme's business law practice is focused on the needs of the owner-manager and includes shareholder agreements, purchases and sales, re-organizations, financings and security, partnerships, tax planning and succession issues. He also represents charities and not-for-profit organizations. Graeme is involved with several community organizations and groups. He is married and has two young children, Wyndham and Jessica.
