Mike Peerless is a partner with Siskinds in London, Ontario and a member of the Firm Board of Directors. He took his B.A. at the University of Western Ontario and his LL.B at the University of Victoria. Since his call to the bar in 1993, Mike’s practice has been focused on class actions and other complex multi-party litigation. He has experience in a variety of substantive areas of law, including products liability, anti-competitive activity, commercial disputes, financial services liability, consumer fraud, pharmaceutical products and medical devices cases.
He acts for both plaintiffs and defendants, has practised before all levels of the courts in Ontario, including trial and appellate courts, and has had cases that have been reviewed by the Supreme Court of Canada.
Mike has published and spoken extensively on class actions in Canada and internationally. He has presented papers and participated in many seminars and programs presented by the Law Society of Upper Canada and private organizations. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Law where he teaches a course on Class Actions. He is the co-author (with Siskinds’ Partners Mike Eizenga and Charles Wright) of Butterworths’ loose leaf service: Class Actions Law and Practice.
As a member of the firm’s Board of Directors since 1997, Mike has taken a keen interest in the development of technology, especially as it relates to the efficient delivery of legal services to clients.
He is an avid endurance athlete, having run dozens of 10k races and half marathons, along with marathons in Chicago, New Orleans, New York, and Boston. In addition, he completed Ironman Canada in both 2002 and 2004, and Ironman Hawaii in 2003. He is therefore familiar with many forms of exercise-induced suffering!
As a member of the firm’s Board of Directors since 1997, Mike has taken a keen interest in the development of technology, especially as it relates to the efficient delivery of legal services to clients.
